Amigren – fast relief from migraine attacks

Astrapharm presented the drug Amirgen with the active ingredient sumatriptan for the treatment of migraine attacks on the Ukrainian market.

Migraine is one of the most common forms of primary headache, which often leads to temporary disability. Intense unilateral headache typical for migraine significantly impairs the quality of patient`s life and requires highly effective therapy.

A key role in the treatment of migraine is assigned to triptans – a specific group of anti-migraine drugs recommended by the European Headache Federation as the first-line drugs for the treatment of severe and moderate migraine symptoms.

The following triptans are currently available in Ukraine:

• sumatriptan;
• zolmitriptan;
• rizatriptan

Amigren`s sumatriptan is a selective agonist of 5HT1-serotonin receptors, which does not affect other 5HT-receptors. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on vasoconstriction in the carotid artery system and inhibition of the activity of the trigeminal nerve.

Thanks to this pharmacological effect, Amigren, besides relieving headaches, eliminates other symptoms of migraine: nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sounds, which improves the general condition of the patient.

Amigren comes in capsules, that contains 50 or 100 mg of sumatriptan. There are 1, 3, 6 or 10 capsules in a blister.

The clinical effect is observed 30 minutes after taking 100 mg of the drug.

Amigren is dispensed on prescription only.
