Symptomatic pain therapy – Ketodexa

Pain is an unpleasant sensation that, on the one hand, significantly impairs the quality of our daily life, and on the other hand, it`s the guardian of our health, that signals if something in the body has gone wrong.

As defined by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), pain is an unpleasant sensation and emotional experience that is associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described by the patient in such terms.

The drug Ketodexa made by the pharmaceutical company Astrapharm is an effective remedy for the treatment of various types of mild to moderate pain: musculoskeletal pain, painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea), toothache and others.

Ketodexa contains dexketoprofen trometamol – a propionic acid salt, which has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, and belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The drug exerts its pharmacological effect, decreased prostaglandins synthesis, by inhibition of cyclooxygenase.

The onset of the analgesic activity of dexketoprofen trometamol is obtained at 30 minutes post-administration. The analgesic effect persists for 4 to 6 hours.

Ketodexa comes in film-coated tablets, that contain dexketoprofen trometamol 36,9 mg, which is equivalent to dexketoprofen 25 mg.
