Release Forms:
Composition:
- active substance: fosfomycin;
- 1 sachet contains 5,631 g of fosfomycin trometamol, which is equivalent to 3.0 g of fosfomycin;
- excipients: saccharin, sucrose, mandarin flavor, orange flavor.
Dosage form. Granules for oral solution.
Main physical and chemical properties: granular white powder with a characteristic odor of mandarin flavor.
Sachet of laminated foil. 1 sachet in a cardboard box.
Indications for use.
Treatment of acute uncomplicated cystitis in women and girls over 12 years of age. Prevention of infections in adult men during transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy of the prostate.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or to other components of the drug, severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance <10 ml/min), children under 12 years of age, undergoing hemodialysis.
Method of application and dose.
Fonurol® is administered internally on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime, after emptying the bladder. The contents of the sachet are dissolved in ½ a glass of water. Drink the solution right away.
The presence of food in the stomach slows down the absorption of fosfomycin. Therefore, it is advised to take the drug on an empty stomach or wait for at least 2-3 hours after a meal before administration.
Treatment: Adults and adolescents weighing 50 kg or more – 1 sachet of Fonurol® 3 g once a day.
Prevention: Adults weighing 50 kg or more – 1 sachet of Fonurol® 3 g 3 hours before and 24 hours after the intervention.
Children.
It is used for girls aged 12 and over for the treatment of acute uncomplicated cystitis. The safety and efficacy of fosfomycin in children under 12 years of age have not been established.
