Nimelgan – an effective drug for the treatment of acute pain

The pharmaceutical company Astrapharm’s portfolio of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs includes Nimelgan – a drug for the symptomatic treatment of acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea that comes in tablets and sachets.

The active ingredient of Nimelgan is nimesulide. Its therapeutic effect is due to the fact that nimesulide interacts with the arachidonic acid cascade and reduces the biosynthesis of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, thereby shows:

• anti-inflammatory,
• analgetic,
• antipyretic effect.

In the human body, nimesulide is well absorbed after oral administration and begins to show an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect after 15-20 minutes, which lasts up to 6-8 hours.

Nimelgan is available in two forms – tablets and sachets, which contain 100 mg of nimesulide each. The drug is recommended for use by people aged 12 years and above.

Producing Nimelgan in the form of granules in a sachet with lined foil has its own advantages since this form ensures the absence of a negative effect of moisture or light on the active substance. Furthermore, clinical studies have shown that nimesulide in granules begins its action faster compared to the tablet form.
