Sezonia and Astria – the antiallergic duo made by Astrapharm
Different plants actively release their pollen into the atmosphere from March to October annually. During this period, Ukrainians note the occurrence of allergic symptoms that require urgent pharmacological aid.
The arsenal of the national pharmaceutical company Astrapharm includes two effective antihistamines – Sezonia and Astria.
Sezonia contains levocetirizine dihydrochloride – an active isomer of cetirizine, which belongs to the group of competitive histamine antagonists. Through the blocking of H1-histamine receptors, the drug prevents the development and relieves the course of allergic reactions, has an antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effect, has almost no anticholinergic and antiserotonin effects.
The active ingredient of Astria is desloratadine – the primary metabolite of loratadine, which selectively blocks peripheral H1-histamine receptors. In addition to antihistamine activity, desloratadine has potent anti-inflammatory properties.
Each drug has its own significant advantages:
- is a representative of the latest generation of H1-histamine receptors;
- acts within 12 minutes after taking an oral dose;
- effectively eliminates the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, rhinoconjunctivitis and urticaria;
- has a high safety profile;
- easy to use: 1 tablet once a day.
- the antihistamine drug without sedation;
- has a direct effect on inflammatory mediators;
- has a long-term effect – 27 hours;
- in combination with montelukast suppresses the allergen-induced early asthmatic response.
Sezonia and Astria come in film-coated tablets, that contain 5 mg of the active ingredient. They are recommended for use by adults and children over 6 years of age.
Drugs are dispensed without a prescription.
